dvd and jewel

I'm currently watching Lost and Grey's Anatomy! Aarrggh! I need to get a life! Seriously!

Anyway, I was lurking again in TWoP and I found these thread descriptions really funny!

Woody Goodman: Wow, Do You Work Out!
Weevil: I'm Crusing Your Head! I'm Crushing Your Head!
Dick Casablancas: I Find Your Quick Wit Enchanting
Duncan Kane: Error 404 -- File Not Found
Jason Dohring: Yes, He's Married.
She Used To Be A Laker Girl: Kendall Casablancas
Sheriff Don Lamb: Who DO Birds Suddenly Appear?
Gia Goodman: What Do You Think of Me? REALLY?
Meg Manning: Sniff.

Hahaha!!! Amazing! The Duncan Kane and Gia Goodman descriptions really made me laugh! And Jason D... Eeek! Yes, he really IS married. Sniff.

Grey's Anatomy (here are some..)

Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd: So Dreamy!
Dr. Alex Karev: Frat Boy Bitch
"You don't get to call me a whore" The Anti-McDreamy/Meh League
11 Years: Addison/Derek

Eleven years!! Haha! I love Addison.. really bitchy but so real, edgy and smart. And she's got the spunk! I hate Meredith Grey! I know this is her show but I thought the character is kind of disappointing.. boring.. i don't know! I'm not sure if it has something to do with the actress (Ellen Pompeo) and her acting. I am so into the Anti-McDreamy/Meh League! Go Team Addison! Hee!

Jewel

I got to listen to her new song (Goodbye Alice in Wonderland) from her new album. I LOVE it! The lyrics, as they say, are so confessional and honest. I was sort of disappointed when she turned pop and changed her image.. This song reminds me of Pieces of You and Spirit.. I'm glad she's back to her old music.

I know posting lyrics in blogs is the corniest! I don't care.. These lines need to be posted here!

So goodbye Alice in Wonderland
Goodbye yellow brick road
There is a difference between dreaming and pretending
I did not find paradise
It was only a reflection of my lonely mind wanting
what’s been missing in my life

And growing up is not an absence of dreaming
Its being able to understand the difference between
The ones you can hold and the ones that you've been sold
But dreaming is a good thing
Cause it brings new things to life
Pretending is an ending
That perpetuates a lie
Forgetting what you are
Seeing for what you've been told

Lost! I'm still on Ep. 4 of Season 1. Nothing much to talk about yet. JJ Abrams is a genius! Felicity, Alias and Lost.. wow!

Veronica Mars!

I read very good reviews about this show and that’s the main reason why I bought the DVDs. (Two seasons for only P200. Why not?! It’s pirated by the way. Haha! Yay! Sorry). I knew from the start that it didn’t do that well in the US, ratings-wise. It was up against two heavyweight shows – Lost and American Idol. (Why on earth did they try to compete with these shows? America, we know, is obsessed with Idol. I….was too.. Hee! Okay, probably not “obsessed” but I religiously followed it.) So as expected, the ratings flunked. But I read that it had re-runs and that drew new viewers/followers. In the internet and critics’ world, however, VM is hugely popular. I was talking about TWoP in my previous post and VM is surprisingly a favorite there. I am not sure if the number of posts reflects the number of fans. They might be few but are just chatty, you know. But anyway, I recently “lurked” there and I did enjoy their smarty conversations. New York Times applauded it. Time Magazine calls it “one of the best dramas on TV” and as for Joss Whedon (Buffy), it is the “Best. Show. Ever.” (Thanks Wiki). Okay enough already!

The last time I was glued into television for watching a teen drama was like…ages ago. Lol! Obviously, I did not follow The O.C., One Tree Hill, Laguna Beach and other teen shows today. It’s probably because I have matured *coughagedcough* and I lost interest in watching this kind of stuff. (Or simply because I can’t watch them! Haha!) I definitely did not belong in BH 90210-era. I watched that show but I was a kid then. Dawson’s Creek! That I can relate. Hehe. And Felicity too! This was not a teen show but rather a college-life drama which I absolutely loved. I remembered this show..umm.. My So-Called Life. I saw few episodes but then I loathed Claire Danes, so I didn’t work for me.

I’m too lazy to create my own description so here’s what Amazon said:

The smartest high school drama since Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars is The O.C. as penned by Raymond Chandler. Veronica (Kristen Bell, Deadwood) is Nancy Drew by way of Lauren Bacall, while Neptune makes Peyton Place look like Mayberry. The first season begins in the aftermath of a dizzying array of cataclysmic events: Her best friend, Lilly (Amanda Seyfried), was murdered, her sheriff father was fired over his handling of the case, she was sexually assaulted, and her mother left. Since then, Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni, Just Shoot Me) has become a private eye and drafted Veronica as his assistant. She may lack Buffy's physical prowess, but the "tiny blonde one" turns out to have a special talent for sleuthing. In the wake of her sophomore year, the popular crowd abandoned Veronica--even boyfriend Duncan (Teddy Dunn), Lilly's brother. (Hence the theme song: "We Used to Be Friends.") Veronica is on her own until she meets Wallace (Percy Daggs III), the only student unfamiliar with her past, unlike Duncan's sarcastic pal, Logan (Jason Dohring), one of her more ardent foes. He was Lilly's boyfriend and his father is movie star Aaron Echolls (Harry Hamlin). By the end of her junior year, Veronica and Logan will make their peace, but it won't be so easy to win over the school--let alone the town. Throughout the season, Veronica will solve several mysteries both big and small--including the murder of Lilly Kane. But a few questions remain. For instance, at the end of the season finale, Veronica opens the door to greet an unseen visitor with "I was hoping it would be you." So who was it? Fortunately, UPN renewed the critically acclaimed (if ratings challenged) teen noir and that tantalizing question will be answered in the second season premiere. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Veronica Mars is a Wonder Woman! She’s always on-the-go to rescue her friends, schoolmates and clients whether for a “fee’ ($250 a day I remembered) or for charity. I am just wondering though why she still excelled in school when she didn’t seem to have the time to study or do her homework. She’s busier than a career woman! And Neptune seemed to be the most notorious and dramatic high school on earth. Well, I know I shouldn’t dig on those things too much. This is just a TV show and without those conflicts, issues and dramas, we wouldn’t have VM now!

The Casts!

I love Kristen Bell. She’s truly perfect for the role. She looked like any other blondes but it’s different when you get to follow the show and watch her. She handled the smart and witty Veronica character really well. Oh and let me mention the clothes! I lurve her outfits on the show!

Daddy Keith Mars is great too. Wallace the sidekick..erm he’s okay. I find the girlfriend (Jackie) cute. Duncan, at first, I thought was played by Shane West. Haha! Some said he’s boring and lacks the acting chops but hey, I love that confrontation scene with Veronica when he revealed to her that they’re siblings. Ouch! He had a “moment” there. Weevil/Eli… I wub him too. And I felt sorry for him during that “Let me graduate!” outburst in the last episode.

Tina Majorino! I love this girl in Andre, Corrina Corrina and When A Man Loves A Woman. She is no longer that cute but I’m glad seeing her making a comeback!

Tina in When A Man Loves A Woman (1994)

The “obligatory psychotic jackass” Logan is played by Jason Dohring. Rowr! I heart him! Bad boy rich kid – we all love this character (I do! Jung Jae-Min… Dao Ming Si… ayan napunta na naman sa Asianovela. Hahaha!)

Logan, at first, seemed like just one of the high school student characters in VM. I didn’t know that in the end, he’ll turn out to be one of the main leads – surpassing the sidekick Wallace and he-used-to-be-my-boyfriend Duncan.

The Epic that is Logan and Veronica.....

One. Two. Three. Squeeee!!!

I’m always in a lalalalala-mood everytime I watch these two. I know I always have this shipper-heart and fangirl thingy in me. What’s so interesting about the tandem is the undeniable chemistry that they have. I don’t know what “chemistry” is supposed to be but I know it’s there! I had a lot of time googling JD last night and here’s what he has to say about LoVe… (source)

Q: You and Kristen Bell having amazing on screen chemistry. Do you prefer when Veronica and Logan are more snarky towards each other, or when they are involved romantically

I like both, but for different reasons. It’s always great to play, as you call it, the snarky role with her because she’s so wonderful an actress, it’s just so fun. It’s like a game, you know, who can one up each other. So I like that. But then it’s also great when a moment of real honesty hits you during a scene. All of a sudden you’re like holy shit, your really seeing something about that person that is so real and I love that, especially with Kristin because she responds so well to everything. Any time you make a little change, she changes, and you’re like man, that’s incredible. When you get involved in a real emotional scene, it hits her and then it hits you, and you can’t help but feel like man, I’m there, I’m doing this and it’s so great.

Let me point out that Logan also has something Pacey-ish in him and I effing hate it. Pacey dated/slept with his teacher. Logan had an affair (and fuc*ked several times his friend’s sexy stepmother. Eew!) In real life, I wouldn’t want an asshole called Logan, but this is just a show. And I can always instill in my mind that those sex scenes are fake. Bwahaha! In Season 2, I was like damn! Why did the writers ruin Logan? I know he’s a “badboy” but still, I find it.. too much already!

The important thing is the ending right? LoVe-wise…season 2 sucks except for the first and last few episodes. I think the EPIC lines are downright true! I don’t find it cheesy at all! The BEST romantic dialogue. Ever!

Logan: Come on, you know I'm not talking about Hannah. I thought our story was epic, you know? You and me.
Veronica: Epic how?
Logan: Spanning years and continents. Lives ruined, bloodshed, epic. But summer's almost here. And we won't see each other at all. Then you'll leave town then...it's over.
Veronica: Logan...
Logan: I'm sorry. About last summer. You know, if I could do it over. Veronica: Come on. Ruined lives, bloodshed? You really think a relationship should be that hard?
Logan: No one writes songs about the ones that come easy.

We rarely see Logan and Veronica talking about their “relationship” since the show wasn’t really made to delve into that stuff (Watch DC instead. They talk about relationships there 24-7! Hehe!). And I think that’s nice. It didn’t look forced and cheesy. That scene is truly a treasure in a 21-episode series!

spread the LoVe!

An absolutely "Aww" moment..

Tubey Awards

I got this list from televisionwithoutpity.com (TWoP) - the most intelligent TV forum I've ever been to (the funniest and craziest forum is survivorsucks!) . I discovered it during AI days. I am not a member but I go there once in a while when I'm bored. The discussion, analyses, debates, reviews and comments of the posters are so in-depth, informative, 'enlightening' and smart. (which means I can't post there because I'm shallow and slow. lol. i'm forever a lurker!)

TWoP lurves Veronica Mars. I was actually surprised that this "ratings-challenged" show got the highest number of posts (whopping 330,000+ posts). Next to VM are Gilmore Girls and the heavyweight reality show American Idol with 250,000+ posts each. Hee! Blame it to VM obsessed fans!

Slimy Caribbean, etcetera…

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest is a must-see! It’s freaking hilarious! I just didn’t like the slimy characters there… Super Eeeeeeeeeeeeew!! Like this oh… Lookie! Hahaha!

I don’t care what they say about Orlando Bloom’s acting. He’s cute. Period. Hihi! And one more thing, it’s b i t i n !

Yikes! I sound like a fake coño here… Hahaha!

Next picture - - - > Sukob

I enjoyed Feng Shui. I remembered screaming in the theatre while watching it (Yeah, despite Kris Aquino’s awkward facial reactions/acting. Lol!) It just means it’s effective (O baka nadala lang sa malakas na sounds…pampatakot. Hehe.) Nasaan Ka Man had a very sad and heart-wrenching story. It was a very good sad-love-story-heavy-themed-thriller-suspense-film. Will Sukob be twice as good? Let’s wait and see!

Oh PalauPalauPalau

My friends are planning to go there. I don’t know when. They’re inviting me. The island looks so good in the pictures. But I’m not ready yet. My pocket I mean. Hehe. Shucks! I don’t even have a passport! Puresa!

Before I go, let me post my picture (I’m with my baby here). We’re both sweaty, I know. We weren't drunk. It's just the weather... it's humid!

Nyahahaha! (I told yah! Joo Yoo-Rin is such an inspiring character! Was that good?)

PS: All images were stolen from the web! Credits to them!

Bye! Bbashya!!

korean cheese sucks

Now that's a lie. Sort of.. I just finished watching 'I'm Sorry, I Love You' and 'My Girl' and I promised to myself not to watch another K-drama for the next six months (at least). I think I'm going to have a K-withdrawal here. LOL. I remembered I said "I usually don't watch Koreanovelas" in one of my posts here. Haha, that's another lie. Well again..sort of. Because it's true. I didn't watch ALL K-dramas shown on TV. From 'Endless Love' and 'Lovers in Paris' to 'My Girl' and 'A Love to Kill', there are already about 20 (or more.. I'm not sure) K-dramas shown on Philippine TV. I've only watched four of them. And yeah, I have religiously watched all four of them. Haha! Am I too defensive? Hee! But then, watching two 16-episode K-dramas consecutively is no joke. It is pretty...stressful. Does that already qualify me as a K-fanatic? Not yet I guess. Btw btw btw, before I finally say buhbye to these two dramas, I'll write brief reviews (echos!).

I'm not that good (organized and detailed) in making reviews. But I'm trying. Hehe! I am extremely biased (just like everyone else I guess) and sometimes inconsistent. My theme in this post is... lying! Joo Yoo-Rin is such an inspiring character I tell you. (Got me? Good! No? Nevermind! )

I'm Sorry, I Hate You!

So Ji Sup (SJS) - Moo-hyuk
Im Soo Jung
(ISJ) - Eun-chae
Synopsis and Review

I was really disappointed with the ending of this drama. The last two episodes were pretty dragging (I remembered fast-forwarding some very slow scenes) and most of all, I was stunned with the craziness of Eun-chae. Self-sacrificial love? Sorry, but I don't buy it. I thought it was rather pathetic (And I'm referring to the very last scene here). Life is so beautiful. Why waste it?! Okay, Eun-chae loved Moo-hyuk sooo much and she probably found her life meaningless when he died. But she has a supportive and loving family. And Yune and the mom loved her too. Her family may not be rich but she seemed to have had a decent living. And why kill yourself one or two years after Moo-hyuk's death?! Did it take her that long to realize her life was worthless? I'm sorry but I just hated it how it ended. I can take "sad/bad endings" as long as it's justified. This isn't even the worst of them. I loved almost everything about Lovers in Paris except the ending. I felt like I was cheated. Lol. And of course, who could beat Memories of Bali? Want tragic ending? No other series, as far as I know, was brave enough to kill its three main leads. In the case of Bali, I thought it was justified. I understood Jae-min's (or Paolo) hopelessness and extreme jealousy. His family wasn't supportive and he seemed to have no one in this world to count on. His is crazy (and I mean super-crazy!) in love with Soo-jung (Erika) and the latter did not even show some love to him (Well, she did say "Sarangeo" at the end but it was too damn late!). In short, he felt so unloved in this world and he thought he has to die and worse, kill the only woman he loved and the other guy he had just found she had sex with! I still did not like that ending. I mean, I wished the directors could have ended it in a nicer way. But at least, it was justified. With Eun-chae, although she has shown some "loca loca" symptoms (lol) at the end part of the series, I'm still not convinced with that suicide thing she did. It's like..we knew from the beginning that Moo-hyuk was going to die. The directors may have dedided to kill Eun-chae's character as well to add the element of surprise or to do away with the usual feel-good or happy or bittersweet ending.

To judge a drama by its ending is totally unfair. I know I sounded like I was ranting but I wasn't really that disappointed with it..just the ending. In fact, I think this is one of the most beautifully-acted dramas I've seen. SJS was very effective with his character. And oh my effing gosh.. his stares, his looks, his eyes.. really mysterious but expressive. I know I have this little temporary obsession with Lee Dong Wook right now (read more of him in my review of My Girl below) but he is no match to SJS and JIS when it comes to acting. I also love the mom (geez forget her name!). She is very convincing. I love the cute boy (Moo-hyuk's nephew), the twin sister (she's really good), Eun-chae's funny sisters especially the younger one, Yune! (I can never consider him as "cute" but he's adorable!) and of course ISJ. She looked so innocent. She just fits the character so well.

The story, theme and scenes weren't exactly new but somehow they still managed it to present it in a unique way. There are basically two "love" stories here. The first one was that of Moo-hyuk and Eun-chae. I'm not a fan, sorry. I admit I was carried away with Yune's sweetness to Eun-chae but I knew from the start, they'll never end up together. The other love story pertains to the mother's love towards his son (vice versa). I've seen a lot of this kind of theme (especially in Philippine local dramas) but this one really moved me. It's so honest, sincere and realistic. There is no evil contrabida here. Just humans who tend to love so much and who are willing to do everything (even to commit sin or mistake) just to save their love ones. (Naks!)

I can always forgive faulty endings. I have read some reviews and comments and everyone seemed satifisfied with how it ended. Lol. Although I never cried in any of the scenes and I ended watching it with rolled eyes (the haller ending you know), I still say that this is a very touching drama. I didn't regret making puyat just to finish it. It was worth it!

My Grrrrrrrrrrrrrl!!

Lee Dong Wook (LDW) - Seol Gong Chan
Lee Da Hae (LDH) - Joo Yoo-rin
Synopsis and Review

I usually start my review in a negative tone. I'm going to do it again this time. Hehe. Don't worry babawi ako.

What I did not like about 'My Girl'... Hmmn.. actually a lot. Almost everything! Lol! Just kidding! I mean the story here is definitely NOT new! If you've seen Lovers in Paris and Full House, you would see a lot of similarities when it comes to scenes, dialogue, characters, etc. I was actually hesitant at first whether or not to watch it because I thought Yoo-rin was a bit trying-hard and exaggerated. And some scenes (the petty quarrels and the comical scenes) were unoriginal and dang! the cliches. I can enumerate some of them: poor girl and rich guy fall in love; family business-setting; the girl is a travel guide (and so as Erika of Bali and San Cai right?.. of Meteor Garden); love-triangle or cube? (the lead man is torn between two girls and the lead girl is torn between two men); etcetera! (Am I too mean?? Teehee!) Well.. I really don't mind! Nevertheless, My Girl is amusing and addictive! I'll give you two reasons: Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae!!

Although I think that Jo In-sung and Ha Ji-won are still my most favorite on-screen couple (the chemistry is sizzling!), LDW and LDH are not far behind. I wub them! Pwamis! Yay!

Lee Dong Wookieeeeeeeeee!!!

My mother, while watching this show on TV, said that you don't need to analyze to conclude that LDW is handsome (as compared to Dao Ming Si raw). Hehe. LDW is cute. No. I mean he's very cute! I find his acting a bit "unnatural" though. Seol Gong Chan reminds me of Carlo of LIP - rich, stiff but adorable! There were some scenes when I thought LDW was just acting, you know. It didn't look that easy and natural. But overall, he still was effective playing his character. I love his reactions when he gets "kilig". I love it when he is fooled by Yoo-rin. And I love it when he stares at Yoo-rin. In short, I love him. Haha! I mean how can you not like this guy ? Admit it! (Wala nang plastikan...LOL!)

Lee Da Haaaaaaaaay!

LDH is uber pretty.. definitely one of the prettiest Korean actresses. I didn't watch Green Rose that much but I thought she was prettier there. But in My Girl, she was so amusing and so cute! Contrary to my first impression that she did look trying-hard, I now find her so good after finishing the drama. I love her "Tangguen" (or "Absolute") song. Cute cute cute!

You need not dig deeper into story to enjoy this drama. Cutesy? Yes. But I told you, I really don't mind. LDW is drool-worthy and his chemistry with LDH is amazing. I want to see more of them. I mean, moooore!!

Btw, I saw these scans umm...somewhere. Just wow!

Isn't she gorgeous ?
