Kathy Griffin's Jesus remark cut from Emmy show
"A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus," an exultant Griffin said, holding up her statuette. "Suck it, Jesus. This award is my god now."
Kathy Griffin is a very funny woman. But this statement is just unacceptable, whether or not you're a believer. I randomly read this reaction from msjane1961. And she said it perfectly.
I remember an actor who made a public gay slur and I think he was fired. I remember another comedian who made racial remarks during a standup act and he was sued and barred from ever returning to that club. Why is this any different? This is a religious slur. An insult to Jesus is an insult to His Church.This is Catholic-bashing. If this woman's actions were looked at from the same "politically correct" angle as the actions of the above examples, she would be banned from the Emmys or lose her Emmy. Why is it okay to slur Catholics and not other classes of people?She coudn't have said it better.
